The Raw Food Gourmet: Going Raw for Total Well-Being

The Raw Food Gourmet: Going Raw for Total Well-Being

Gabrielle Chavez

Does the idea of raw food mean a salad and fruit to you? What if you could actually sit down to a delicious feast of Tomato Bisque, followed by Wild Mushroom Tart and Apple Pie for dessert?

Going raw is an adventure because even though it seems intuitively to many of us to be the best way to eat, a raw food lifestyle is still considered somewhat counter-cultural. Successfully becoming and staying raw requires a zest for learning not just about new foods and methods of preparation, but new ways of relating to food emotionally, mentally, spiritually and socially.

The diversity of foods and preparations possible is amazing. Unlike traditional cuisines such as French, Chinese or Middle eastern, raw gourmet is still evolving and exploding creatively. The food has an almost spiritual quality - one that can only be described as "aliveness."

The benefits of eating more living foods will quickly become apparent. Like water on a parched desert, your body will welcome the new enzymes and nutrients made available by eating raw food.   You will feel an almost immediate increase in energy and a spiritual awareness that was not previously available to the body and mind.
